6/17/2015 0 Comments The First of ManyI will admit, this post is nearly a week late but I have a good excuse. I have been living with out wifi for about two weeks now and let me tell you, it has been quite the struggle. Trying to get a website up and running when you work best at 1AM alone in your bed is not an ideal situation. I have finally gotten my website to a point where I am ready to show it to the public, and I couldn't be more excited. I graduated from College of Charleston a little over a month ago and am still clueless on how to answer the age old question, "What are you going to do?" Thankfully, many people in my life reassure me and let me know that my uncertainty is natural and okay. I only found it fitting to make my first post about a very important part of my time here in Charleston. The Pour House, and more specifically Dead on the Deck. Through this place I have experienced and met many intrinsic parts to what makes me who I am to this day. My first defining artistic experience was at the Pour House for the 4th annual mural competition. It's held in the fall and I received 3rd place, which included a $100 bar tab! No worries, it was finished in two days thanks to help of my friends. :) I share this with all of you because I am so grateful to have experienced being a part of a grassroots music and art venue and I highly recommend getting involved with your community.
This venue shares the building with an amazing restaurant, The Lot, with a daily changing menu based off the local food available and in season. On Sundays you can attend the Sunday Brunch Farmer's Market in the back and now features a food truck, Elbo' Truckin. Just a tip, I highly reccommend you try the Cubano Sandwich! As you can see the Pour House is a versatile venue catering to many needs, and if you ever find yourself in the Charleston area I demand that you check it out!
